Summer Fun in Jackson, Mississippi

Summertime in Mississippi may be hot and humid, but a great way to forget about the heat is to have some fun. Here are some great activities and events for some summer fun in Jackson.

July 4th Family Fireworks Extravaganza

One of the highlights of any summer break is watching fireworks on the 4th of July. The small town of Clinton celebrates in a big way with its annual family fun day at Traceway Park. The fun starts at 5 p.m. with food, live music, and kid-friendly activities. End the night with a grand fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.

Mississippi Children’s Museum

Take a break from the heat and spend a day letting your kids explore at the Mississippi Children’s Museum. Kids from toddler-age to pre-teens will find something new to experience. Admission is only $10 per person and the museum is open Tuesday through Sunday.

Christmas in July

What better way to cool down than imagining snow-covered Christmas trees and sugar plum fairies? Sign up for Christmas in July at The Mustard Seed in Brandon. Each participant will get to paint three Christmas ornaments. There are dates all through July.

Beginner’s Blacksmithing

If your kids have ever wondered about the ancient art of blacksmithing, you can sign them up for a beginner’s class. It will be held at the Mississippi Crafts Center in Ridgeland. There are various dates to choose from. Open for ages 13 and up.
