Spring is a rainy time of year here in Mississippi. The road can quickly become a dangerous place in soggy conditions. Here are a few things to be mindful of as you prepare for driving in April showers.
Check your tires
The goal of your tires is to keep you on the road. The tread patterns push the rain through the channels and out from under you. If your tread is too shallow, your tires won’t be much help and you could easily hydroplane if there is a lot of rain on the road.
Replace your wipers
Get a new set of windshield wipers every six to 12 months. If you can’t remember the last time you replaced yours, it is likely that you are overdue. Old wipers are not as effective as a new set at clearing water off of your windshield.
Use your headlights
If you turn on your windshield wipers, turn on your headlights, too. Regardless of a downpour or misting, the combination of your headlights with your working wipers will go a long way in improving your visibility on the roadways.
