The 2018 Buick Regal brings new designs, more features, and upscale luxury at an affordable price. Now the American automaker is putting pressure on global competitors with a new safety feature that recently debuted in China. The Buick Regal’s Active-Hood technology aims to protect pedestrians involved in traffic accidents.
General Motors has rolled the technology out in Europe, Korea, and the United States over the past decade. Now, with 10 years of data in hand, the automaker is introducing the technology to the world’s largest automotive market.
“If you consider the European market alone—where GM first introduced this system in 2007—we have seen the number of fatalities drop by 50% in the last 10 years,” said Wahaj Hussain, lead Active Hood Systems engineer at General Motors.
The World Health Organization estimates that around half of the 700 daily fatalities from traffic accidents are pedestrians. That makes introducing the Active-Hood technology an absolute necessity.
The Active-Hood System raises the back end of the hood by four inches in order to reduce the impact when a vehicle strikes a pedestrian. It comes as a part of Buick’s eProtect smart safety technology suite. Other active safety technologies include Pedestrian Detection and Collision Mitigation Braking, among others.
We here at Phil Moore Buick GMC are happy to see Buick continuing to make vehicles safer around the world.

Halloween parties are great. Everyone gets to dress in costume, you can deck out your house to scare all your neighbors, and there is a seemingly endless supply of candy. But, to really make your party great, try some of these Halloween party games.
- What Am I? Tape a Halloween-themed character or picture to each guests’ back or forehead without them seeing what it is. They have to talk to other guests to figure out who or what they are. However, they can only ask yes or no questions.
- Apple Pass. Divide everyone into groups and have them stand in a line. Give each group an apple that they have to pass from person to person by holding the apple under their chin. The first group to finish wins. If they drop the apple, they have to start from the beginning.
- What’s in the bowl? Fill a few bowls with different textured foods and cover them with a black cloth. Guests have to put their hands in and try to guess what it really is. Examples include cooked spaghetti (veins), peeled grapes (eyeballs), and cocktail sausages (severed fingers).
If you need a new car to match your Halloween costume, come visit us at Phil Moore Buick GMC.

For Michigan residents, the annual Michigan Auto Show is something to look forward to every year! The 2017 Michigan Auto Show was about as epic as automotive events come, so if you missed it, here’s a recap.
The Auto Show, which spans over four days at the DeVos Place, engages any attendee with tons of amazing cars. Guests get to see everything from the car they could drive tomorrow to the car that they drive in their dreams.
One portion of the show that impresses every year is the Million $ Motorway. This year, it had 25 cars with price stickers that ranged from $100,000 to $416,000. However, that’s not the only special exhibit that was featured at the car show. There was also the Great American Muscle Cars Display, which featured some of the most powerful cars on the road today.
Vintage cars were featured, thanks to an exhibit from the Gilmore Car Museum. The Gilmore Car Museum also allowed attendees to enter into the “Great Race.” This event consists of a 2400-mile journey from Jacksonville, Florida to Traverse City, Michigan, all while driving classic cars.
Now that you know just how awesome the auto show can be, you have plenty of time to get ready for it next year.
